Vilma Umanzor is a Honduran periodontist and academic recognized for her contributions to clinical periodontology, implantology and dental education in Latin America. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Catholic University of Honduras, completed postgraduate training in periodontics and implantology at the Autonomous National University of Honduras, and obtained a Master’s degree in dentistry from the Latinoamericana University. She lectures in periodontology and research methodology at the Autonomous National University of Honduras and coordinates the periodontics specialty at the Catholic University of Honduras, mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students. She is a member of the International Association for Dental Research, the International Team for Implantology and the Honduran College of Dental Surgeons. She co-authored Latin American consensus and Delphi studies on periodontology and implant dentistry and published peer-reviewed clinical research between 2021 and 2025. Her work advances evidence-based periodontal therapy, academic training and regional scientific collaboration.
