Cabrerizo received his BSc in Chemistry (2002) and his PhD in Chemical Science (2005) from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP), Argentina. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centro de Investigación en Hidratos de Carbono (CONICET–UBA, 2005–2006). He carried out research in Germany, Japan and Denmark. Since 2006, he has been a Research Member of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), leading, from 2010 to date, the Photochemistry and Molecular Photobiology Lab. He served as an Assistant Professor at UNLP and at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín (UNSMA) (2011–2013). In 2013, he was appointed Associate Professor at UNSMA. His research focuses on the molecular aspects of mechanisms of photosensitized processes triggered by UVA and visible light. Cabrerizo was awarded the G. Cilento Award of the Inter-American Photochemical Society (2006), the Ranwel Caputto Award of the National Academy of Sciences of Argentina (2009), and the Eduardo G. Gros scholarship of the National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences, Argentina (2015).
