Shakoori is professor emeritus, dist. natl. prof. and director, School of Biological Sciences, U. of the Punjab, Lahore and prof. of cell biology at the U. of Massachusetts Medical Centre, Worcester. He obtained his Dr.rer.nat. from the U. of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, 1972. He has been co-dir., Centre of Advanced Mol. Biology, and chair. of the dpts. of zoology and microbiology and molecular genetics at the U. of the Punjab. He was awarded Pakistan's Highest Academic Award, Aizaz-i-Kamal; Dist. Scientist of the Year Award 2011 in Zoology, Pakistan Acad. of Sciences; the Civil Award Tamgha-i-Imtiaz and Scientist of the Year Award by the Min. of Ed., Pakistan. He has been a senior Fulbright fellow, senior DAAD fellow and obtained a fellowship from the Royal Soc. (1999). He is fellow of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences and life fellow and pres. of the Zoological Society of Pakistan (2002-2006).He received Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Excellence Award in Science & Technology in 2012

Shah is a professor and director of the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and UNESCO chair on bioorganic medicinal and natural product chemistry at the University of Karachi, Pakistan. His research explores the intersection of supramolecular chemistry and nanotechnology. He has authored six books and edited four books (all with Elsevier), nine book chapters and more than 550 research articles with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 1,900. National and international agencies, including OPCW, IFS, ISECO-COMSTEC, TWAS-COMSTECH, DTRA US, HEC, PSF have provided financial support to his research, and 50 scholars have completed their PhD studies under his supervision or co-supervision. He is a Fellow of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, and the Islamic World Academy of Sciences. He received the Atta-ur-Rahman gold medal in 2006, and the Dr. Raziuddin gold medal in 2015, both from the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, as well as the civil award Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, conferred by the President of Pakistan (2015). He is a recipient of the Abdus Salam cash prize in chemistry, and serves as an editor of the Journal of the Chemical Society of Pakistan.

Muhammed is rector of the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Islamabad. He received his DPhil in biochemistry. Oxford University, and completed postdoctoral research at the Oakridge National Laboratory, USAEC. He established the Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology, Faisalabad, in 1969 and was its first director. He was also the vice-chancellor of Agriculture University, Faisalabad, and founder-chairman of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council from which he retired in 1990. He was awarded an honorary DSc, the Prime Minister's Gold medal, and the Gold Medal for lifetime achievement by FAO. He is fellow and past-president of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences. He was elected president of the Pakistan Association for Advancement of Science and the Scientific Society of Pakistan.
