Dr. Daniel Limonta was accepted as Research Assistant (Virologist) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 2022. UCSF is one of the best medical schools in the United States. He is working under the supervision of Dr. Nevan J. Krogan. The Krogan lab is based at the Quantitative Biosciences Institute at UCSF and the Gladstone Institutes. One of the main interests of this lab is the development of new therapeutic strategies against RNA viruses of global importance. After completing his PhD in Havana, Cuba, Daniel worked as virologist for over seven years at the Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology at the University of Alberta which is among the top-ranking universities in Canada. While in Havana his main topic of research was the immunopathogenesis of dengue virus, at the Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology he researched the interactions between zika virus and host cells. Specifically, he developed new ex-vivo infection models of zika virus in the human developing brain for immunopathogenesis studies and anti-viral therapeutic strategies. Furthermore, he did anti-viral research about SARS-CoV-2, the causing agent of the COVID-19 pandemic, and other RNA viruses.

Christian Joseph R. Cumagun is a Senior Research Scientist and Plant Pathologist at the University of Idaho and an Adjunct Professor at Brigham Young University-Idaho, USA. He earned a BSc in Agriculture (Plant Pathology) from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, an MSc in Plant Pathology from the University of Copenhagen and UPLB, and a doctorate in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Hohenheim, Germany, specializing in plant pathology, plant breeding and molecular biology. His research focuses on fungal population genetics, mycology, mycotoxins, molecular plant pathology, biological control and plant disease diagnostics, with current work on seed-borne diseases and pathogen detection in Idaho crops. He has held research and teaching appointments in Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Brazil and the Philippines, including Alexander von Humboldt and JSPS fellowships. A former professor at UPLB, he has supervised 47 students and led plant-health capacity-building initiatives. His recognitions include The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) of the Philippines, the Philippine Outstanding Young Scientist Award, the Humboldt Research Fellowship and the 2025 Balik Scientist Award.
