Biodata
Professor Ben Zhong Tang obtained his BS from South China University of Technology and PhD from Kyoto University, then conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto. He joined HKUST in 1994 and became Chair Professor in 2008. Elected to CAS in 2009, TWAS in 2020 and AIMBE in 2026, he joined CUHK-Shenzhen in 2021 as Dean of SSE and has served as Vice President since 2026.
With over 2,700 papers, 265,000+ citations and an h-index of 224, he proposed aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and is a pioneer in this field. He has received many awards, including Tang Aoqing Chemistry Award (2026).
