Yusoff Khatijah Mohamad

Academician Professor Emeritus Datin Paduka Dr Khatijah Mohd Yusoff, FASc, is a distinguished Malaysian scientist with over four decades of contributions to virology, molecular biology and biotechnology. She graduated from La Trobe University, Australia, with a First Class BSc (Hons) in 1979 and a PhD in Microbiology in 1983. Her research focuses on viruses and their applications in vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics, particularly Newcastle disease virus. Beyond research, she has contributed extensively to higher education, science and technology policy, research integrity and scientific capacity building. She began her career at Universiti Putra Malaysia in 1983, later serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and subsequently as Deputy Secretary-General at Malaysia’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. A Senior Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and Fellow of several international academies, she has received numerous national and international honours, including a DSc honoris causa from La Trobe University. She is currently Professor Emeritus at UPM and a Subject Matter Expert at the National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia.
