Zabta K. Shinwari is a distinguished Pakistani scientist, academic leader and internationally recognised scholar whose contributions span molecular systematics, agricultural biotech, medicinal plant ecology, bioethics, biosafety and sustainable development. He holds a D.Sc. from Kyoto University, Japan, and has served in senior academic and scientific leadership positions, including Vice Chancellor of Kohat University of Science and Technology, University of Science and Technology Bannu, Qarshi University Lahore, and Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Tech. He is Distinguished National Professor and Professor Emeritus at Quaid-i-Azam University and Vice President of the Islamic World Academy of Sciences. A Fellow of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Islamic World Academy of Sciences and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), he has received international distinctions, including Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, UNESCO Avicenna Gold Medal for ethics in Science. HEC Best University Teacher Award and the Distinguished Scientist Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
