King David Anthony

Professor Sir David King FRS is the Founder and Chair of the Climate Crisis Advisory Group and Founder of the Centre for Climate Repair at the University of Cambridge. He is Emeritus Professor of Chemistry at Cambridge and an Honorary Fellow of Downing College, where he served as Master from 1995 to 2000. He was also Head of the Department of Chemistry at Cambridge from 1993 to 2000. He served as the UK Government’s Chief Scientific Adviser from 2000 to 2007, providing scientific advice to the Prime Minister and Cabinet. During this period, he was instrumental in the creation of the Energy Technologies Institute. From 2013 to 2017, he served as the UK Government’s Special Representative for Climate Change, working to advance international cooperation on climate change. He played a significant role in the development of the Paris Agreement and was a key figure in the launch of Mission Innovation, the global initiative to accelerate clean-energy innovation. In 2022, Professor Sir David King received the AAAS David and Betty Hamburg Award for Science Diplomacy in recognition of his contributions to science diplomacy and international scientific cooperation.
